I grew up in Chicago, and I have a few favorite hot dog joints I often visit. They all have a few things in common, although each place varies just a bit. I will give you the basic Chicago hot dog recipe, and also a few variations, including the often requested Maxwell Street Polish recipe.
Before I explain the differences, I want to explain what exactly it is that qualifies a hot dog to carry the “Chicago” name.
The combination of wine and food is hundreds of thousands of years old. The ancient Egyptians were the first to team their opulently produced wines with equally opulent dishes and the trend has never really disappeared. Different wines taste great with different types of food and the same goes for cooking using wine – not all wines will complement all dishes. For example, white wine and red wine are very different in flavour and form. The recipes that taste great cooked in red wine are not the same recipes that taste great when cooked with white.
In this nacho recipe, I will lay out exactly how to make nachos that everybody will love- even the kids. The key is- keep the hot-stuff on the side, as an option. This way, those who like to sizzle can, and those who don’t want to breath fire don’t have to.
Nachos are always a hit, even perfect after playing FoxyBingo with friends and family. Whether it’s a backyard get-together, a family appetizer before a meal, or even as a meal itself, this nachos recipe is guaranteed to make people smile (and eat!) More…
